Just finished reading, which didn't take long, as it was very short and basic. The writing is not personable at all and has some odd errors (as if the author may not be a native English speaker, and it was not well-edited). I've learned a lot more just from reading about tomatoes online.There are only three recipes.

It's full of a wide variety of projects that are unusual and doable - there is something for everybody! I'm new to gardening and I appreciate the beautiful pictures and helpful text in the book, as well as the projects. There are so many fun projects to help make the most of the plants in your garden, or to enhance your garden's beauty. She does an excellent job of infusing the garden with creativity and has inspired me countless times to make something new. Her book, Garden Made, is a beautiful extension of her blog. I love that Stephanie shares her personal story of healing and how she has used gardening as a way to recuperate, reconnect with nature. As a beginner gardener myself and someone who suffers from chronic pain, I've started to experience first hand how therapeutic and healing it can be to go outside and get dirty in the garden. This book is bursting with uniquely creative projects that will inspire you to get outside and explore your own backyard. Divided into four chapters (spring, summer, fall, winter), each project offers step-by-step photos and easy to follow instructions. Most materials are already growing in your backyard, or stored in your garden shed or kitchen pantry. I love that she often uses thrift store finds like picture frames, vintage teapots and even old chairs to repurpose into beautiful handmade projects that are truly unique.

They are our best friend so we need to take good care of them. First we should teach them table manner if we want them to behave properly when we are eating. Dogs are good imitators so we should watch our behaviors too because most often than not they are observing us and imitate us later on. I really love this book because it teaches me in just a short span of time how to train, treat and take care of our dogs. I love puppies and I believe as early and small as they are, they must be trained properly with care.

These "Unbored" series of books are a great answer to your kids complaints about there being nothing to do. Especially after making them take a break from screens, they can be uninspired to do anything except gripe. This book is a wellspring of activities. You'll find yourself inspired to join in too.

By Jeb Durgin Jewelry stores are always intimidating, but if you look online for info about how to get the right diamond ring, there's a ridiculous amount of information and some of it contradicts what other places say. So I don't know who to trust and I don't know what parts of the diamond ring are absolutely necessary to focus on when it comes to getting an awesome diamond for a decent price. I found a company on Yelp called Vanessa Nicole Jewels, and when I saw her website, it said that she wrote a book. I figured since she had all 5 star reviews from clients who seemed pretty happy, maybe this book would help. It DID! It covered all the basics and she specifically said there are key points to consider when looking for a diamond and all the rest of the information like specific percentages for diamond angles (what?) can be left to an expert to help you pick the best diamond. She certainly seems like an expert so that's what I'll do. Vanessa Nicole's book rocks!

There's all the inside baseball the seasoned fan would want, but the sport's arcane lexicon that might leave general readers flummoxed is either avoided entirely or explained away.Skipper is presented throughout as a kind of Rocky Balboa figure. He was an awkward, lazy colt who came very close to being gelded. A confirmed mama's boy, he didn't take kindly to being separated from Countess Vivian. Nor was he pleased about being rigged and asked for speed. He spends a good part of the book trying to rationalize away his reputation as a sulker.The iconic stallion played second fiddle to the great Overtrick on the racetrack, and it took breeders several years to realize Skipper was a sire worthy of quality mares, or, any mares at all, for that matter. It was a long, arduous journey to the top of the heap.Meadow Skipper dedicates the book to three men: Joe Lighthill, who first used his whip to wake him out of his race day lethargy; Norman Woolworth, who showed $150,000 worth of faith in the unproven colt; and Earle Avery, who never saw a ground saving rail trip he liked.The first thirteen chapters detail Skipper's racing career; the next five examine his sixteen year stint at stud, as well as the contributions of his offspring; and the final chapter is a flashback on his life, delivered as he crosses over to the other side after suffering a heart attack in his paddock at Stoner Creek Stud.The authors state at the outset that the book is a mix of fiction and nonfiction. Magic realism marries harness racing. The first thing that came to mind was Marks' Race of the Decade series that was published in Hub Rail during the 1970's.Skipper's primary rival throughout the racing chapters is Overtrick, who fell to our hero in the Cane, but beat Skipper more often than not, including in the Messenger and Jug. Marks was present for many of these races and is able to provide an informed firsthand account, buttressed by the omnipresent wry commentary of Meadow Skipper himself. Walter R Brooks, who created Mister Ed and other talking animals in a series of short stories he penned seventy-five years ago, has nothing on Howard and Marks: That Skipper is a funny fella.Skipper's "love interest" throughout is Laughing Girl, the dam of his near clone and premier siring son, Most Happy Fella. She passed after a pasture accident at age nine, and our boy is devastated when he gets the word.Marks knows the sons and daughters of Meadow Skipper better than anyone; he knows which ones were producers, and to what level, and which ones failed to live up to their lineage and race records. These chapters are crack for pedigree junkies, as sons, grandsons and great grandsons are examined and graded one at a time, in detail. From modern day progenitors, like No Nukes and Cam Fella, to the wildly successful Albatross, who failed to extend, to abject failures like Ralph Hanover, Computer, Genghis Khan and Jade Prince; it's all there.The same sort of care goes into examining Meadow Skipper's impact on the breed from a bottom line perspective. Marks views Matt's Scooter and Call For Rain as Skipper's finest credits as a broodmare sire. The former is characterized as a successful, though not great, sire, while the double Breeders Crown winner by Storm Damage is labeled an abject failure at stud.Detailed accounts of the influence of Meadow Skipper on the pedigrees of present day stars the likes of McWicked, Artspeak, Colors A Virgin, JK She'saldy, Sweet Lou, Anndrovette and Foiled Again follows.We learn that Meadow Skipper is the only Standardbred ever embalmed in Kentucky, and that Skipper rests between Count Fleet, Crown Champ and the headstone of Rodney. The physical Skipper, that is. His spirit is frolicking on the other side with Laughing Girl.Howard knows plenty about harness racing and Marks is a skilled writer, who has always lived outside the box with his annual yearling prognostications and the like. It's impossible to figure out just who is responsible for what in Meadow Skipper "The Untold Story," but it's the best book about the sport I've ever read.

Their unique style of telling Meadow Skipper's life from birth and with commentary from Meadow Skipper himself, make the book read so enjoyable, informative and a page turner to see what was going to happen in the next chapter. Great story for not just equine lovers but anyone who wants to read about a champion!

About the Author Simon Tofield is an award-winning animator and cartoonist. There Must Be Fifty Ways to Leave Your Collar By Pop Bop So far this is my favorite Simon's Cat collection.Sure, we get a lot of tricking Simon's Cat into the box, and the Vet visit itself is pretty raucous, but the title promises many other Cat-astrophes, and it makes good on that promise.Among other treats, we get - An extended riff on the horrors of protective collars and all of the ineffective ways there are to remove them. A running series of jokes about Simon's Cat versus the fussy next-door gardener. Some charming bits of turnabout involving the neighborhood birds. And, of course, fishing for moles. Jokes that are set up early in the book sometimes play out later on, so you get more of a continuing "life of..." feel here, and not just a collection of stand alone panels.As a bonus, it's not all just about the Cat. While Simon's Cat is in just about every panel, there's a lot of personality and presence on the part of the regular supporting characters. Kitten, dog, the birds, the neighbor, garden gnome, and badger all figure heavily in the action, and they all get their own bits of jokiness.Surveying all of the action and clever misbehavior and reversals, I figure Cat loses about as much as he wins. That seems fair. But the reader wins all of the time, which is best.So, if you get just one book this year featuring a cat who lives with someone named Simon, put this book on the shortlist.(Please note that I received a free advance will-self-destruct-in-54-days Adobe ecopy of this book in exchange for a candid review. By Karen I'd like to thank the author for a copy of the book and the chance to review it through the GoodReads First Reads program.Loved it! My kids got me into this series from watching them on YouTube. This cat (and the new kitten) are exactly like our 2 cats! EXACTLY! I was so excited to get this book. The minute I opened the package, my son grabbed it out of my hands and took off with it. I could hear him laughing in the living room. I finally get it back while I'm making dinner, until my husband gets home. He stands there reading and laughing, NOT helping me with dinner! Yes, the Mom is always last, but hey, at least I finally got to read it. (Before my daughter takes it off to college with her.)Super funny, if you love cats or love someone who loves cats, you will enjoy this book!

I'll have to admit I like the videos better because of the music and the cat's "meows," (therefore the 4 star rating) but there are some great pieces in the book that made me laugh out loud--the recurring mole, the highly agitated neighbor (he of the skinny legs), the cat's ineffective attempts to get birds to fly into his mouth. Typically Simon and all funny.
