I wish I had this when we first purchased our home.In the first few years we did so many updates to the home like the furnace, water pump, water filtration, hot water heater and more. In September our water pump went and we knew we had replaced it when we moved in but it would have been nice to be able to check back, see what the issue was and have all the information we needed. Since we didn't my husband had to pull the pump up with my assistance (gross nasty job) to get the measurements so we could go pick one up. It only took 2 days but it was annoying nonetheless.I recommend this book to every homeowner to keep track of everything in one spot. There is even pockets for you to include receipts and manuals so you never lose them. A-M and N-Z so you don't have to search through everything.From your roof to your driveway, your windows to your dryer it is all in here.Great investment in your home and a great first home gift.

It is full of information about products, storage, organization, etc. Aside from the wealth of information it gives you on household items and how to maintain them, it gives you one place to store every item you want to record. It is full of charts to place your warranty numbers, phone numbers for merchandisers, serial numbers of your products, etc. It gives you lists after lists. If you are an organizer or want to become one, this will be the ONLY book you will ever need again. I still have not been able to complete my household belongings because it is so extensive. It will also be great when you make new household purchases...all you need to do is put down all the pertinent information and you have it for safekeeping. I would suggest that once you start filling in the pages, you keep it in a fire-proof box. It is sure to help you if you ever have a disaster in your home. Insurance purposes aside, this is a great way to catalog your belongings that are precious to you.

Glass in itself has filled me with awe, the magic of the light dancing through it and the pure power of something that can be so strong and yet so fragile. I love art as a whole but the things made with beads are so amazing.Having found this book I have a new excitement for it and a new respect for the artisans who create them. The time and dedication they put into their work is awe inspiring. This book show cases 18 artists and captures the different techniques they use to create their unique and beautiful works. They share secrets and give wonderful tips and advice.The book is very well done and easy to comprehend. It is straight talk and made sense even to a novice like me. Each chapter reflects an artist and how they make their pieces and what inspires them. The pictures are stunning and so amazing. I learned so much from this book and have a newfound passion for glass beading and the art that blooms with in.Tanja Ostwald did an outstanding job making this book come to life and her own passion for it shines in every chapter. She clearly put a lot of effort into it and I can not recommend strongly enough. Whether you are a glass bead artist or just curious, this book is for you.

By Wendell Blood and Iron was a fun sword and sorcery romp, built upon the foundations of a complex, magic-filled fantasy world. While some of the character development disappointed, the novel itself never failed to entertain, flashing glimmers of potential greatness. And in Storm and Steel, Jon Sprunk goes a long way in fulfilling that promise.Two story lines develop in tandem throughout this novel. One is the continuing journey of the former slave Horace, who ascended to the halls of power in Blood and Iron through the revelation of a magical talent he never suspected he had. Now, his life is one of constant doubt, fueled by his own inner feelings of inadequacies: lack of control over his magic, lack of friends in a hostile court environment, lack of experience handling political situations and lack of understanding regarding his attraction for two very different women (Queen Byleth of Erugash and the western slave Alyra). The second is the tale of Horace’s friend Jirom. This black, homosexual ex-mercenary finds himself neck deep in a slave uprising against Queen Byleth; his every instinct warning him to escape this madness, but his heart demanding that he remain beside Emanon, the man with whom he shares a strong romantic bond, even if it puts him at odds with Horace himself.For those that loved the immersion of Horace into Akeshian politics and its constant machination, this installment of The Book of the Black Earth will take a bit of getting use to. Here Jon Sprunk spends a great deal of time focusing on Jirom and the slave rebellion, developing the characters, showing their diverse motives, and laying out the growing conflict. A conflict that slowly draws in Horace and takes him away from the royal court, as Queen Byleth orders him to destroy this threat to her reign or find himself without her continued support. But even with that being the case, never fear, because there is still lots of shadowy subversions going on within the Queen’s court and outside of it. Inside, there is a rash of mysterious murders. Without, the Sun Cult priests (Those who escaped Horace’s wrath in book one and fled to neighboring city-state of Akeshia) have gathered allies, planning an invasion of Erugash to cast down Byleth and her puppet wizard. And lingering over everything is a growing sense that there is a diabolical presence pulling the strings of everyone, waiting patiently for the perfect time to reveal itself!On the whole, this second installment of the series is a better book than its predecessor; Jon Sprunk evolving the characters, the world around them, and introducing a deeper, darker plot that has been simmering right below the surface unnoticed. Now, there really aren’t any black and white characters in the series, only gray. The “heroes” beginning to show moments of true humanity, where they doubt themselves, are callow, selfish even, or ruthlessness, while the “villains” have times of introspection, explaining the reason for their seemingly evil actions and unveiling the desires and plans which drive them forward, even when they wonder if these choices might be wrong. Meanwhile, the world around these people becomes much more diverse, as Akeshia herself is explored, and different members of this fascinating Babylonian/Egyptian-inspired society reveal themselves. And that “deeper, darker plot” is partially unveiled at the end of this novel, promising even higher stakes for Horace and Jirom going forward.All in all, if you enjoyed Blood and Iron, you definitely need to put this novel on your reading list. Storm and Steel is a great chance to experience a good, old-fashioned, sword and sorcery tour de force; one that perfectly mixes a sweeping fantasy world with non-stop action. And just when you begin to believe that is all it is (As if that weren’t enough!), Jon Sprunk pulls the rug out from under you at the end, unveiling another twist in the tale that leaves you wanting more. For with Storm and Steel, the author has delivered the next stage in the evolution of The Book of the Black Earth, tantalizing readers with the prospects of what is to come.I received this book from Pyr in exchange for a fair and honest review. I’d like to inform everyone that the review you have read is my opinion alone.

Well done fantasy/action By Deb Nam-Krane While I hate to use the word "realistic" when talking about fantasy, it works here: Sprunk did an excellent job of creating a varied cast of characters with different personalities and motivations. With the exception of one character (sorry, you'll have to figure it out), Sprunk also makes it difficult to "play favorites"; people who are basically sympathetic have moments of callow opportunism and/or cold-bloodedness, and those we're pretty sure are villains show us their thinking; even if we don't agree with their actions, we understand where they're coming from.While I could have used *something* to help bring me up to speed regarding the characters and the conflict at the beginning, I did catch on by about page 75 to most of the nuances. However, Sprunk did not skimp on the world building; within a few sentences it was easy for me to imagine the settings the action was taking place in, even during intense action scenes.Recommended for fans of fantasy and action.

You have your moments of backstory mixed in with dramatic events followed by setting up of some future plot points then some big action. It's the apparently the 2nd in a series, I didn't get to read the first, but the author does a good job of letting us know the relevant events of the first in small doses as we need them, he doesn't spend an overt amount of time rehashing events just to pad the book. I appreciate that. We have too much of that in our tv these days. They come back from a commercial, and then spend the next 5 minutes reminding us of what we just saw before they went to a commercial.Anyway, this is defiantly a sword and sorcery book. Not my favorite genre, but when well written I don't mind it at all. And this one kept me interested throughout. I would not mind seeing the next books in this series, I have no doubt they will hold my interest as well.

The fact that their management has been so little understood has been the cause of failures among the adventurous women who, attracted by their novelty, have tried to experiment with them and have come to the mistaken conclusion that they are not practical, have limited scope, and are altogether a good deal of a disappointment. Such women have made the statement that they are not adapted to cooking starchy foods; that they will not do for most vegetables; that raised breads and puddings cannot be cooked in them, and that there is little economy in using them! Delightful bit of cookbook history, and moderately useful for actual haybox/insulation/thermal cooking By Jonathan Teller-Elsberg I do a fair bit of insulation cooking using a home-made insulation kit on my pressure cooker. This book is fun to flip through for the historical perspective, and here and there I see recipes that I'm willing to try on my modern taste buds.

By Happy Amazon Customer Have long wanted to gain the ability to properly identify and forage for, wild-craft, wild herbal plants so that I can (as the author of this book writes), "utilize their medicinal and nutritive properties." This book is a guide to understanding wild plants, how to identify and forage for them, how to harvest the roots, flowers, and leaves of medicinal plants and how to incorporate wild medicinal herbs into your life. The book includes instructions, with pictures, on how to identify ten of the "most recognizable" wild herbs (which I think are ten of the most useful) and how to use them as a recipe/food ingredient or supplement so that the reader can tap into their healing properties and benefits. These ten wild herbal plants include St. John's Wort, peppermint, wild rose and more. I especially love how the author encourages foragers, or wild-crafters, to carefully take only a portion of a wild herb or plant (to ensure their future survival in an area) which is, as the author writes, practicing "foraging and herbalism with respect." The author shares the ideal time o day to cut the flowering tops of an her, or pick leaves and flowers, so that the morning dew has dried but the herbal powers or benefits of the plant are not yet sapped by the sun. The book includes recipes that I plan to try, including a recipe for how to make rose water from the petals of the wild rose. Rose water is an ingredient that one can used to make exquisite rosewater ice cream or sorbet as well as the most delicious frosting and cake batter flavoring. Wild herbs Based upon this book, I plan to make: Wild Rose Water, Raspberry Pregnancy Tea, Totally Wild Herbal Salad Dandelion Root Coffee, and so much more. This is an incredibly useful little book, which I highly recommend. Happy reading and foraging~*

By Catherine Cerez I will not lie, when I first came across this book I didn't exactly know what to expect...man! Was I surprise with how much information was packed in such a small book. The author did a great job of explaining how to do certain things and exactly what you will need as far as ingredients are concerned in order to complete the task you have...such as treating a scrape and such. Very well informative and straight to the point. This was not only a good read but it was a fun one too!

By Sally Rogers The images in this book are intricate and detailed, and that is exactly what I was looking for, not so much a kid's coloring book. I enjoy the complexity of the images and am amazed at how the illustrators heralded today's tangle art, but as a more sophisticated and meaningful endeavor. Some of the images are perfect for markers and others work better for colored pencils. I enjoy the variety. I also am intrigued by the illustrations themselves, as they are also captioned with the artist's name and story that they were drawn for.This coloring book is awesome and I look forward to having some lovely finished artworks when I am done with it.
