From the Author This is a story of love - not at all a morbid tale but rather the 'love-side' of dying, something we all must deal with is the death of a loved one, whether pet, or human. This experience helped to heal old wounds that had been with me for all of my life. I found that the fear and anger that came from my earliest experiences of helplessness in the loss of my mother when I was young, through helping Annie, all of that fell away and was replaced with a knowing of oneness.I have been writing vignettes which are told in words and pictures. I use my loving family (my pets) to illustrate and carry the message of spirituality and the wonders of life.
From the Back Cover A loved one is dying, something we all experience, and they are all hard. While she was dying, magical things kept happening, which helped to heal regarding death and dying.When you understand the concept of oneness, and how it impacts intimacy - you look at life and death differently. Rich Okun was lucky enough to share Annie's Journey and to write and paint their experience to oneness. In this journey, Annie taught Rich how to live as well as how to face death, and she showed him the secrets to happiness in everyday routine events, and how love heals all. Rich Okun spent most of his career in various corporate positions. He was one of the youngest members of the Art Student's League of New York. Rich finally thinks he has an answer to the question he has asked himself all his life - "what do you want to be when you grow up?" He found his calling and is now pursuing writing and illustrating children's books.

Unfolding a love story of life and death it can help heal open wounds that may still be with you from the experience of someone close to you dying.

By Debra Martin Rich's love for life and all it entails creates a richness of life in this beautifully illustrated writing. I have had many beloved pets and have been with each at their end of life here. His account of his and Annie's journey of life and care during her time of great love and need reaches far beyond just telling a story of a loving man and his beloved furry friend! We can learn much from Annie and Rich's journey we can apply to all our loving relationships throughout life. An amazing story and man!

The story of Annie, coupled with the beautiful illustrations, bring me comfort and some understanding of how to help Toby on his journey. Well done and easy to read, suitable for adults and children, this charming book should be a part of every family's collection. Lovely to read even if you aren't experiencing a loss.
