More than Shelter By H.SAITO The painful truth of Gimme Shelter is that love is conditional -- even for an animal rescued by a dog-loving, kind couple from possible destruction. Physical shelter is not enough. Despite his history of pet devotion, Lou must engage in painful introspection to earn the confidence and affection of a pit bull with an uncertain background of abuse and with an incredible emotional radar. Tanner will accept nothing short of honesty. Lou and Tanner's mutual journey to forgive and bond instills hope in the reader; we have the ability to challenge and change embedded negative thinking and behavior at any age. Great read.

Garrett Whether you are a dog lover or not, your heart will be touched by this beautifully written memoir by Louis Spirito. Mr. Sprito,who loves dogs but has difficulty managing his personal anger issues, rescues a pit bull named Tanner from an animal shelter. For months he works tirelessly to mellow this frightened animal and make him a part of his southern California household. At times trying and difficult, both the dog and master learn from each other and develop a very powerful bond. This is a book that teaches us the special love that a dog can imbue inside of us. And Mr. Spirito learns to conquer his anger all because of this mind-of-his-own pit bull. A wonderful book that is also a great guide for anyone thinking of adopting a dog from a shelter!

I love dogs but you don't have to be a "dog person" to get the message hidden between the lines. This books opens a door to serenity and a fresh appreciation of the precious gift of life. It's a fun read written by a thoughtful man who takes us on his own journey of self discovery that turns out to be ours as well. Great job Lou Spirito!
