The colors are beyond cheerful and the overall designs are brilliant. My favorite is one called "Pixie Sticks" featured on the left side of the cover. If you have a whimsical side and have a stash of fabric (as if there was a quilter out there that doesn't) I bet you will like these quilt patterns.

The simple rules for putting together fabrics, helped me to unclog my tendency for throwing scraps together without a plan. The Pixie Sticks pattern was fast to sew together, and has a clean, modern look. I'm looking forward to sewing many more quilts from this versatile book.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful collection of quilts By ST Stash Lab is a beautiful quilt book that really focuses on color, balance and design. The author encourages the reader to use the fabric stash that they have already collected, incorporating fabric leftovers from prior quilts into their next quilt. She explains how her own fabric scraps are organized and stored. There is an excellent sections of quilting basics from pressing, sewing accurately, applique and through squaring up the quilt and attaching the binding. The illustrations and photography throughout is excellent quality.Personally, I really loved the quilts in this book. There are eleven different patterns, from strip pieced string quilts, Dresden plates with applique, and more traditional block designs shown in modern colors. While the quilting itself is not photographed closely in every quilt there are a few close ups to give the reader some ideas for quilting. Sunny Side Up is a perfect use for those favorite jelly rolls, and could also be made from similar-colored fabric scraps. The Big Spin is a pinwheel block that uses low volume fabrics as well as some carefully placed brights to create a very charming quilt. (A 6 ½” Triangle Square-Up Ruler from Quilt in a Day is very helpful for making dozens of half square triangles.) Jester, shown as a foundation-pieced pattern, could also be made with the stack, whack, and shuffle technique that Buggy Barn popularized. Sparklers, a whirling star design, makes use of the 60-degree triangle ruler that the reader purchased for a class and has not used since. Other designs show more ways to use up scraps and create some fabulous utility quilts.Happy quilting! Five Stars.
