This is not only a great book for parents, but would be extremely helpful to child care providers and educators. There is even a section dealing with determining who should go first, which I thought was clever. Another thing that I thought was good was the fact that many of these ideas and activities do not cost anything. Many of the activities can be done spur-of-the-moment and do not require any additional articles.I would recommend this book to anyone who has children, be it a parent or a grandparent or a babysitter. I will be using some of the ideas from this book when I babysit my grandchildren over Christmas break. This book would make a great holiday present.

By Ana Grubac I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.A great book filled with all sorts of games for various ages, individuals and group, rain and shine, indoor and outdoor and many other scenarios. I would highly recommend this book to any parent, educator, or anyone who just wants to enjoy play. I will definitely order a copy for the school library.I loved many quotes, statistics and facts throughout the book on the importance of structured and unstructured play. After reading this book, I also want to read "The importance of play" by David Elkind and the "Last child in the woods" by Richard Louv that are mentioned in this book.Descriptions of the games are great: clear instructions with just enough detail to fully understand the rules of the game, yet not too long. You can tell the author has tried all the games and had fun doing it.I could list 30 different types of games mentioned in the book but that would make one long list. Let's just say that she thought of any occasion; trips, rain, music, literary, holidays, construction play, outside play, pretend games and SO MANY other.You cannot go wrong by reading this book- it will educate you about the importance of play, inspire you to do it and give you ideas on how to do it.
