In addition to the 25+ Burda patterns, there are several variations. The projects are easy to intermediate and sizes range from 14 to 24.

I know what works and what doesn't work for well endowed ladies, no matter the shape. The items in this book are so simplistic and not necessarily in the flattering way. Potato sack shape is not the solution.Full figured ladies are constantly in a search of interesting designs that will augment what needs to be augmented and hide the flaws.I know our possibilities are somewhat limited, but this book is an offense. It's saying "You are fat, so all you deserve is a bunch of loose cover-ups". By the same token, short skirts and off-the-shoulder Tees? Really?I don't recommend this to anyone. Don't be fooled by Marylin Monroe-esque lady on the cover.

What I have been waiting for By Sherri Barrett I had looked into a lot of these multipattern books when I wanted to get one for my teenage daughter and have always been frustrated that few had patterns big enough for me. I was so happy to see this book published that I got it within a month. I am comparing it to Love at First Stitch which I eventually chose for my daughter and Singer Perfect Plus which I won at a sewing meeting. This book has many patterns which I loved at first glance, like La Dolce Vita, a long, flowing summer dress; Vintage Chic, a more classic style dress with a lower neckline that I find flattering; Southwest Charm, a casual blouse long enough to be called a tunic. It has many patterns that look good on my figure type: 68", size 48, broad shoulders with narrow hips. I don't really like the front cover, but there are 23 more patterns including many pencil skirts and pants for different kind of fabrics. The patterns are like the magazines with many overlapping each other on the page and they include the seam allowances. Instructions are very clear to me, an experienced seamstress. Compared to the Perfect Plus book by Singer, these patterns will be easier for me because they are sized for someone who is 66 inches tall whereas Perfect Plus is for 62 inches. Perfect Plus also emphasizes a more professional wardrobe, whereas this book has more variety. The Love at First Stitch has fewer patterns and is aimed at a younger, more petite seamstress who is developing new skills with patterns that become more challenging as the book progresses. At this point I feel that my review is not complete until I have tried a few of the patterns and that will take me months. At this point I am very happy with this book.

The general instructions are nearly identical to those in other BurdaStyle books, except they've omitted the section where they explain how to customize several sizes of pattern to specifically fit you. And there was nothing about how to meet the specific challenges of sewing for a full figured woman, such as creating a waist, most flattering sleeve and hem lengths, neckline shapes, using stripes and prints, etc. The models aren't full figured -- all have clear jaw-lines, visible collar bones, waists significantly smaller than busts, so there is no real idea of how the finished garment will look on a full figured lady. The pencil skirt pattern, with darts at the bottom to make the hem narrower, was a laugh! No woman who experiences thigh rub is wants a skirt that holds her knees together! In reality, this skirt emphasizes hip size. Tops are loose fitting, even baggy, which makes a lady look even larger. I wanted designs that were created specifically to flatter a full figure and camouflage the extra rolls and flabby bits. I wanted a book with tailoring tips to make a full figured woman look well put together. This book has styles for slim women (size 34-44) that have been enlarged for size 44-52.
