About the Author
R. William Thomas started as executive director and head gardener in 2003 after twenty-six years in the education and horticulture departments at Longwood Gardens. He holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin (his native state), is an avid plantsman, and writes about trees, shrubs, and vines.
