Macdougall My husband and I have used this booklet as a gardening guide for the past 4 years since learning about it at an ACRES USA conference. We have witnessed amazing results planting within the specific times listed for various harvesting goals. For example: Beets planted during a root period produce large roots at the expense of the leaves while those planted on leaf days, produce abundant leaves over a long period without forming a large root. We currently have beets, which were planted during a leaf period, that have been in our greenhouse for over a year and continue to produce an abundance of leaves.The book is much more detailed than other books we have used. It lists, not only the best planting days and times to optimize flowering, root, and leaf crops, but also the best periods for transplanting, weeding, adding soil amendments, grafting, pruning, controlling plant pests, etc., etc. It is a little book that packs a big wallop and it is necessary to read the author's notes under each month's listing to realize the most benefit. I would recommend reading the notes for all months right away to get an idea of what information is available BEFORE you need it--some of it is general information (such as "begin queen bee rearing at Flower times..." that can be useful in other months.)

I thought I would try a new one this year so I bought the Maria Thun version. I much prefer the Stella Natura. This one is fine and has lots of information. I like the format of the Stella Natura. I am sure this is just personal preference.
1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Little content, little about beekeeping, rather disappointed. By Bhramari I'm actually pretty disappointed with this book. The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 is because - at least - it has a biodynamic wall calendar I can reference at a glance. That said, I'm still not sure it deserves more than 2 stars. It has very little instructive content and is about as thick as a booklet...not a book. It makes very little reference to what to do with bees on a biodynamic calendar....which is the sole reason I ordered it. Clearly I'll need to search down other resources on how to practice biodynamic beekeeping.
