Wonderful patterns, but British terminology By Rebecca I own Mooncie's previous book, "Crocheted Wild Animals" and have enjoyed making several patterns from that book. Mooncie tends to like big projects, which is a nice change from most Amigurumi books that favor smaller stuffies. I've bought the kindle version of the book since the paperback is not yet available, but will likely buy the paperback when it finally comes out, since it is typically easier for me to read patterns in a book. The patterns in this book are well written and I'm already halfway through my first project. The only reason I did not give five stars to this book is because it uses British terminology for stitches, rather than American terminology. Thus what I would call a single crochet stitch, she calls a double crochet stitch. Her first book had an American version, maybe this one will eventually have one too.

Book includes both row-by-row instructions and charted instructions. All instructions and sizing are given in UK terms but conversions (stitches, needle size, etc) are listed at the end of the book.Yarn is suggested by brand, would have been slightly more useful (at least to me) to list suggested yarn weight instead.I made the shark and it looks mostly like the photos, wanted him to be a bit comical so I made large eyes and teeth, turned out the predicted size (~22", all these patterns produce sizeable stuffed animals), again very easy to follow patterns. The anglerfish is adorable, will definitely make more of these marine mates. I will probably purchase other books by this author, like the wild animal book.

I love how there are diagrams and written instructions for each animal. If you're in the US, note that the crochet terms are UK. (That's perfectly okay, IMO, because the UK has masterful crochet designers and it's well-worth the 2-seconds to learn to replace dc for sc, and tr for dc.) :)

By Brayden Caleb The idea of prepping and equipping yourself with the knowledge to survive a disaster has grown in popularity over the past few years. Volatile natural disasters, terrorism, and escalating violence have caused many people to reevaluate how prepared they are in the event of a disaster. Unfortunately, surviving and preparing yourself to survive a disaster is no easy task. It can take years of practice and preparation to fully prepare yourself to survive any disaster. We look to change this trend with this book and give you enough knowledge to put together a basic survival plan. The idea has steadily gained popularity over the last few years but a lot of people are still hesitant to take action. One of the main barriers to adoption is the mistaken belief that it requires lavish resources. The truth is that preparations can start without spending a great deal of cash. Most of the tasks involve the acquisition of useful skills rather than materials. As such, they can be accomplished as long as you are willing to exert the necessary effort.

Maybe in the desert but good luck in having a consistent way to cook any place else. A fan blowing over water filled with ice as an air conditioner replacement? If I can get ice then either I have electricity and can run the regular A/C unit or it is winter and I can just open the door to get cool. Hydroponics with no power and no access to replacement growing medium?

By Desiree LaBombard I've been wanting to take my crocheting habit to the next level and this book has helped me do that. It offers easy to follow instructions on how to stitch 5 different bags. The bags are really cute and can be used for almost anything. I made a beach bag and a bag to carry groceries. If you're looking to have more fun with your crocheting hobby and an fast and easy way to learn, this book is for you.

By Amazon Customer Okay, I realize I'm just repeating the same praise that others have heaped on this book, but I have to write this review. I only wish I could write a review that was as good as this book is written.Now I'm a guy who usually would not pick up a book with a cover of a woman walking through a field of wildflowers. One look at this book, and I assumed it was probably a romance (with heaving bosoms and turgid man muscles), but I knew better from other books written by this fine author, so I gave it a chance. Boy, am I glad I did!As I read, I keep finding myself asking, "How does she come up with this stuff?" It's all so unusual and so, well, HONEST. These people are written so well, that by the end of the book the reader will feel like you know them. I suffered with them because of their mistakes, and got frustrated by the grudges they held onto for dear life.I guess what I'm trying to say is that I appreciate the view of the inner workings of these characters. Yes, they do unreasonable things, but not without reasons that make sense in their own heads.Is this a romance novel? Well, sort of. It deals with a number of different relationships--most of them failing. But it is NOT a light, mindless, fall-into-bed teenage love story. It is a well-crafted, thought provoking, and realistic novel about what people do to each other in relationships.So, in short, I loved this book, and I loved where it took me.

12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. A Must Read for Every Woman! By Judith D. Collins I have read all Emilie Richards' books so had pre-ordered and could not wait to read it. I finished it in one day as could not put it down! It is one of the most powerful stories about life, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, fathers, forgiveness; Life is too short to hold grudges, and how people come into our lives with great meaning and purpose.I loved the characters and how 3 different women find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy and how each was handled. I also loved the Asheville, NC setting as I am a native of NC and have lived in the southeast all my life and now live in West Palm Beach, FL; however, last fall returned to Asheville, NC to do some consulting work for the Grove Park Inn (fantastic place - make sure to get a rocking chair view and try the underground spa!) mentioned in the book, as well as spending time in Highlands, NC, which is where I visit each Fall. The mountains hold a special place for me as you feel close to God and there is peacefulness there, so the setting was fitting for a book of this nature.I highly recommend as one of the top books and I read over a 100 books a year. One of Emilie's best (and they are all good), but this one was special. I would love to see a sequel and continuation of Harmony as she was a character you fell in love with, as she grew from the scared insecure woman to finding her place, due to Charlotte's warm and open heart. A Winner! (PS I think I went thru a box of Kleenex)

It is a tale of redemption and reconciliation but is not "preachy." Each character is strong and interesting.Clear descriptions of locale make the story even more real. Can't wait for next book in series.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Boyd Flies Again!!! By Susannah St Clair Foxy Loxy Having read all of Ed’s "Boyd Chailland” books I was happy to see another hot in production. The amount of research that goes into one of these must be astronomical! I have never felt that I have hopped, skipped and flown over and into so many countries before with so many, many characters involved. The base line for the story is actually a fairly straight line but the drama surrounding it is mighty indeed. Here Boyd is finally settling down ( well we know what always happens to those sort of plans…) gaining a beautiful Russian wife and son and a brand new baby girl. Makes him a very vulnerable person when old enemies come to call, and they do. Our author really knows the in’s and out’s of our government as he worked there in the Office of the Secretary of Defense . The way things were handled contract wise, helped set this book in motion. A very scary look into one “what if”. The book flows dangerously fast in fact, I think that might be my one complaint. Very little character structure here, its all storyline. About 90% of my reading friends prefer this but I personally like things to go a bit deeper. That aside. Its a rip roaring , traveling across the world type book and a good read basically. I have to say Ed… I am rather pleased with the end. It fit perfectly. Not only what happened to Einarsson.. beautiful justice but better yet, the thought of Dupree getting off to China would leave me with bad thoughts. So those who wonder at the names mentioned…give this book a read. I think you will enjoy it well enough to pass it on to the neighbor.

His hero Major Boyd Chailland is a bit more settled: married with a stepson, a baby on the way, injuries from an earlier story has took him away from flying fighter planes. He flys cargo planes nowadays.But that doesn't stop the adventuring though.Boyd gets involved when evidence shows American technology falling into the wrong hands. North Korea has an American rocket engine in a test flight. An atomic weapon is fired off.And to top it off, a bitter enemy, who Boyd once stopped from assassinating the President and sent to prison has escaped.An exciting novel whose action is amped up when Boyd's family is taken and taunts from his enemy come calling.A good one

The series just keeps getting better By Lagibby Just about the time I thought I knew Ed Baldwin's best book (The Other Pilot), he came out with two more about the same character and I couldn't decide which I liked best, The Devil on Chardonnay or The Mingrelian. Then comes The Fourth Domain, and I see that Baldwin is far from peaking.It's uncanny how Baldwin seems to predict international crises -- ebola in Chardonnay, fighting and intrigue in Eastern Europe in the Mingrelian and now computer hacking and fighting in Africa. Well, I won't write a spoiler review. Baldwin's meanest, nastiest villain is back and his hero is as sharp and forceful as ever.

I have no experience in growing fruits and vegetables. With all the hype about organic foods, even I wanted to try them. The first book offers all the basic information on perennials, how they should be planted for their best growth, preservation of the produce for longer and other helpful tips. The second book is mostly about the maintenance like proper drainage, fertilizers, different kinds of perennials appropriate for annual harvesting. The do's and dont's section in both the books have useful tips. It's a very helpful guide to the beginners.

Gray After moving out of the city and finding a more bucolic home for my children to be raised, I was still considered with the proliferation of chemicals that may be in my new place. I purchased this guide recently in the hopes that it could illuminate me on the subject of making a greener house. Now, after consuming the material, I can happily attest that it has done that and more. The author lays out exactly what is needed in order to understand what we are being exposed to while also providing exacting solutions to the problem. Due to this book I now know things I would have never known prior: Like the importance of proper flooring or finding out exactly where to find drywall glue that is safer for my children’s living environment. Also, the author, an obvious authority on the subject, talks about toxin induced illnesses in order to further cement her advocacy and plea for others to detoxify their environment. Due to the exemplary information involved in this dense and straightforward guide, I now know exactly what steps I need to take in order to create the healthiest environment for my family.

I heard she is filling it in. Most of the pages are the same--room for a photo and space to write about the photo. It could have a few more activities in it--such as how to draw a Goldendoodle, a collage activity, hints about storytelling, etc... so that some of the many pages for photos could emphasize some drawing, creative art activities, and storytelling/creative writing about the dog as well.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I Sincerely Laughed Out Loud DOZENS of Times By David Terruso This book made me laugh out loud several DOZEN times. Like, 40 true, out-loud laughs.Every single page made me smile.I loved this author's last book, 100 Ghosts, but find this to be a vast improvement because it not only showcases his deft visual wit, but also his superb verbal wit. The marriage of the two makes this book irresistibly enjoyable.What really blew my mind was how each pair of pages was like an entire book unto itself. Each pair of pages presents a glimpse into a seemingly fully-realized universe and one of the amazingly unique characters in that universe. The tone of the writing changes with each turn of the page, as does the style of the artwork, and it is endlessly fresh and surprising, but also completely coherent and part of one overall universe. Any one of these characters could be spun off into an entire series of children's books.A lot of the jokes and references will go over the heads of young children (references to Lethal Weapon, An American Werewolf in London, etc.), and some of it is too dark for children, but kids of all ages will love the playful drawing style and the silly scenarios the cats are placed into.I also loved the attention to detail in each individual drawing. Each one deserved to be lingered over and not just quickly scanned.This is the perfect book to put on your coffee table that people can pick up at a party and read a few pages and crack the hell up when there's a lull in the festivities. (But try to avoid lulls in your festivities. Booze helps with that.)

Funny book about nature's funniest creatures (on land, anyway) By Jim G I may be a little biased since I have two cats I treat like dumb little royalty, but this book is an amazing find for cat lovers. The drawings are well done and funny, the stories about the cats are hilarious, and it just resonates if you know anything about cats and their weirdo personalities.

All joking aside -Great book for yourself or a gift. I enjoyed each cat more than the next. All are unique and is expertly drawn. You'll laugh out loud and giggle during your read.
