Review Wow, where do I even start. This beautifully illustrated coloring book balances illustrations of landscapes to cultural artifacts and patterns that take you on a journey around the world. Extremely well laid out with a lot of thought put into making this coloring book superb in quality. Some features I really loved about this book, - Printed on high quality heavy stock art paper, which means I could not only color in pencil crayons but ink without the colors bleeding through. - Each illustration comes with a a descriptive passage giving insight on the illustration on the facing page along with a space for testing colors. -The illustration itself is on a dedicated page that is perforated, so once finished, it can be easily removed from the book for framing if desired. Bridget Lott's artistry and illustration in this book is truly inspiring. Coloring books have certainly come a long, long, long way from what they were in my childhood. My memory of page after page of similar outlines to color in, all along the same character theme, has now been replaced by the joys of this marvelous and eclectic adult coloring book.Coloring book? No, really it is so very much more: a journal, an exercise in creativity, an exploration, and a journey. Beautifully done and wonderfully thought out!

The spiral-binding is perfect for coloring, book lies flat. The paper is nice mixed media quality. I colored in with watercolor and while there was a bit of buckling, the paper didn't pill or disolve. I also used watercolor pencils, prisma colored pencils and Bic mark-it markers. All work well. I do recommend putting something underneath the page you're working on, like parchement paper or scrap paper, so the markers or paint doesn't bleed through the next page.The illustrations are a nice mix of intricate and simple. I really did find it relaxing to color in and let my mind wander. There's also blank pages labled "Creative Journal" where you can doodle your own drawings in, to color, which is kind of cool.Some of the drawings are layed out in "landscape" format (holding the book the wide way), and some in "portrait" (the tall way), which was nice to have options on, depending on your mood.The book just feels good..the cover and spiral binding and quality of paper and the mix of drawings.. I'd definitely buy it again if I had to do it all over again.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. this book has some great tips for you By Amazon Customer If you want to make a difference, and live an extraordinary life, this book has some great tips for you.There are 120 tips listed, and I was able to pick out 10 or so that I could start to work on right away. Some I have done before, and just needed a reminder, and some will be new for me.The author does a good job presenting them - the number can be overwhelming, but he breaks it down and offers brief explanations after each one which makes it easy to read, and then move on.The quotes are also very good - I would like to have had the author of the quote provided just for my information, but I recognized many of them.Liked the suggestion for aim for progress, not perfection. That is a great reminder in all we do.

By Brenda Thompkins Forgive me if this review seems inaccurate to those of you who completed the entire book - I may have missed some good content by not finishing it but what I did read made me feel as though the author was minimizing the effects that anxiety has on a person. I have been living with anxiety /panic disorder for 10 years and while the advice and ideas given in the book are excellent ideas for minimizing stress, those same ideas aren't so easily doable to overcome severe anxiety. Meditation, getting more sleep and having more quiet time, just to name a few, are not easy solutions and especially not a "cure " for those of us who suffer panic and anxiety every day. While this book would definitely be helpful for people who need to destress (and we all need that, right?) I feel this book may disappoint people who are desperate to find some relief from the horrific symptoms and dibillating effects that we face daily from panic disorder and severe anxiety. I'm glad though, from reading a few of the reviews, that many people found this book helpful.

By Cathy Pillar There are times when I can be seriously stressed to the point that it ruins my days and even gets the people around me stressed. Hate that feeling especially when I cannot be calmed down by anyone else. The amazing thing is that this book helped me calm down (yeah I started reading this during one of my stressful periods). It really does offer 120 ways to reduce anxiety and as expected, some of them just don't work out for me (I have no time to start a blog). But I like that they were still mentioned and each had short explanations. Many of the methods were pretty thoughtful and I'll consider the advice.The quotes section was a nice touch too. The author didn't just lazily paste a bunch of quotes from the Internet. Each quote has a short explanation too.It's a great book that I can recommend to just about anybody.

Adult coloring books are all the rage right now, but this is the only series (okay aside from Harry Potter) that I use. Designs are all unique and fun. You'd think it'd be the same thing after awhile but they are all so fun and it doesnt seem plain or boring to me. Pages are nice. I use all different types of mediums- colored pencils, sharpies, crayons, markers etc and these pages hold the color well. It doesnt leak into the next page. The binding holds up well too as I'm always folding the book or turning it to odd angles so I can get the shade of color I want. Pages don't tear or separate- good quality.I was very surprised at how long it actually takes to finish one of these books. I'd say on average I color a few hours a day. I thought I'd fly threw these books but it actually take me a few months to get through one. Lots of bang for your buck here!I like how at the end of the book he includes some of the designs that you'll see in the next book. He really gives you a lot of product.I for sure will be getting Happiness 3 & 4 soon! I also want to get the travel ones for on the go and work. I hope he plans on making more versions! I have turned many friends any family members his way because they always see me with one of his books in my hand!

13 of 14 people found the following review helpful. 9 Old Quilts Get Twice The Fielke Treatment By SLS Using a new approach to the old idea of updating classic quilt patterns, Sarah Fielke delivers 2 versions of each of 9 old quilts. Her first version is a close approximation to the original, with pleasing changes in color. Version 2 is a wildly original reinterpretation loosely derived from its predecessor, simplified or downsized without appearing deconstructed. The result is 18 quilts that practically sing and dance across the pages.Most of the quilts are fairly large, with the largest being a Log Cabin variation at 100.5" by 104.5". The smallest is a Pinwheel revival at 43.5" by 53.5". 4 involve applique, another is a whole cloth quilt, and others feature diamond and triangles. There are many closeups showing lovely quilting lines. The Version 2 of a Rose of Sharon pattern seems to blend Amish color theory with Sashiko stitching.There is no speed-piecing of multiple units here. Diamonds in a pseudo-Lone Star are not strip-pieced, but sewn 1 to another, 1 by 1, 1 after another. Half-square triangles are all built from joining 2 individual triangles cut from full squares. This becomes rather daunting should you want to make "Mosaic". At 80" by 80", it contains about 2,700 half-square triangle units. (It is a square quilt, based on a square quilt, yet I cannot figure out why the original's dimensions are NOT square at 78" by 83". Warping? Stretching?)Fielke imparts many history tidbits and helpful tips throughout. This ambitious book sports both a glossary AND an index, along with a global list of sources.You will need a ruler with 1/8th markings.Beginners might wish to opt for the more simplified Version 2s. In general, this book is geared toward the more experienced piecer, but all skill levels will find much to marvel over. The cutting specifications and piecing instructions are quite in-depth. Long attention spans might be helpful. Love of fabric required.

By Amazon Customer I've been a fan of Sarah Fielke's designs and books since the first time I came across her tutorial video on hand quilting (LOVE her accent ;) and her quilting course on Craftsy. I also had the pleasure of participating in her birthday quilt project (All that and the hatter pattern from her book, Hand quilted with love) and her Little Quilts swap.I find her latest book very inspiring, especially by how she makes an interpretation of the vintage quilts with 2 beautiful variations of her own designs for each quilt featured in this book.Highly recommended. I hope you'll enjoy your copy of Old Quilts, New Life as much as I did!

The book also explains different types of techniques in setting up a system.There are also some step-by-step guides to follow, which makes implementing the techniques much easier. It also has disadvantages like the soil acts like a buufer. the two books set covers a lot of areas about hydroponics. the author writes in a very good manner. It is clear and easy to understand. I really loved this book. It contains a lot of information about how to effectively use space for planting. despite hydroponics is old, but its technologies is relatively new. the book has a lot of valuable information, tips and techniques.

The entire book, from the beginning to the end had me giggling over the totally random humor:"Remember: Do not touch a pug or any other dog unless the person you’re with and the owner of the dog agree that it is a good choice. If you’re by yourself, even if you’re a grown-up, use a mobile telephone to call your mom, your boss, a volunteer lifeguard, or whomever, and get that permission first. If you obtain permission to pet the pug, pet it. Pet it good: Front to back, along the top, starting past the eyes and stopping prior to the tail. After petting a pug, do not smell your hand until you are sure no one is watching you."Perfect for a quick, uplifting read.

About the Author Nola Heidbreder has been teaching fiber art and handwork for eighteen years from her studio in St. Louis, Missouri, and across the country. She has written articles and projects for Mary Englebreit's Home Companion and Rug Hooking magazine, as well as several books (including Finishing Hooked Rugs (978-1-8819-8299-9) and Knitting Rugs (978-0-8117-1251-4), and has appeared on local and national television news programs. Linda Pietz learned to knit at the age of four and has spent more than forty years passing on her love of knitting and other crafts through classes and workshops. She designs patterns for Bucilla, Dimensions, Cat's Cradle, and other companies, and has been featured in several books, including Gourds + Fiber (978-1-60059-470-0). Linda co-authored Knitting Rugs (978-0-8117-1251-4) and has written articles for Rug Hooking magazine and other national magazines. She lives in northern California.

By Susan D WOW FORTY Designs!!!!I cannot begin to think how much work hasgone into this book.If you love to crochet and you want to makea rug then you really have to purchase this book.I really can't believe the variety of designs.The projects are split into sections;Tantalizing TextureRugs That Tell a StoryCrazy for ColourTunisian CrochetShaped RugsAlternative Materials.The patterns are all in written formatand are easy to follow.There isn't any indication of what level ofcrocheter you need to be but most of themseem quite simple and easy to make.My favorite has to be the "Proud Pines Sampler".It's based on a cross stitch samplerand I love how it looks.The designs are so varied and I am sureyou will find you a rug you will want to make.I can't wait to cover my house with beautiful rugs.There really is something for every household.It's well worth the money!!I received this book to review.However all opinions expressed are my own.No monies were exchanged

The book explains in depth all about Cavachon traits and how to care for the dog. I didn’t know how to start and what I would need to care for him. Thanks to this book I now have a better idea about grooming, accessories, toys, training, nutritional diets and lots more. Also, it is helpful to know what deficiencies and diseases my dog may be prone to and be able to protect him in advance. Furthermore, the book covers interesting information on mental and behavioural problems and how to deal with them. In a nutshell, this book covers everything I needed, A to Z, puppy to adult care. I think I would have struggled without the book. Overall, this is a must read book for anyone considering becoming a Cavachon guardian! I love it!

Informative and straight-forward By Mana G I knew nothing about this breed going into this book, so I'm glad that the author, Margaret Davis, is so well-versed in the knowledge of this breed, because I truly learned a lot about them.The layout of the book is straight-forward; History, How to raise, Adoption, Diet, Training, Health- It's all there. Props to the author for making the Kindle edition with a Clickable, detailed table of contents. I ended up using it a few times and I greatly appreciated it. The photos of the dogs as well as informative graphs were formatted correctly and showed up well on my Kindle, which I greatly appreciated.As far as the content goes, it was written with as much of an unbiased view as a dog-lover could produce. Miss Davis isn't afraid to point out the cons of dog-owning and care, especially for this breed, but she also lets the reader know why this breed seems to sparkle to those of whom are considering adopting one. She also goes through and makes notes about things that the everyday Joe wouldn't think about - Such as 'do I need a license for a Cavachon'? or how to calm your new friend down, be it an angry emotion or an excited emotion.All in all this is a very informative guide about the care of the Cavachon while holding up its money's worth on my end.

This book, written by expert dog handler Margaret Davis, is a concise, highly detailed owners guide to understanding the breed, from the behavior to the physical health. From the basics to more advanced information, this book has it. The Cavachon is a “designer” breed that is a combination of the best attributes of the parent breeds—the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Bichon Frise— It is a small-sized dog with a think curly coat and loving demeanor that’s difficult to resist and perfect for anyone who is looking for a wonderful pet, but possibly not a lot of space. The book is chock full of all sorts of information including the type of exercise necessary to maintain your pup’s good health, initial cost you can expect when homing a new dog, and the pros and cons of owning this breed of dog. Davis also addresses how to determine reputable Cavachon breeders and spot unethical puppy mills. Finally, if you read this book and are seriously considering purchasing or adopting a new fuzzy friend, links to quality breeders in both the UK and US are provided. I highly recommend this book. Nicely written, plus some clear photos, it’s a perfect choice for anyone interested in this breed—whether you’re an experienced dog owner or not, there is plenty of valuable information.

By PattyLouise The Girls From Corona del MarbyRufi ThorpeMy " in a nutshell" summary...Simply put...this is the difficult story...the rough and raw story of two friends who grew up together.My thoughts after reading this book...My thoughts...rough at times. Difficult to read at times. Not at all the pretty book about growing up in California that I thought it would be. Lor...Lorrie Ann...Lolola and Mia. Always together, always sharing each other's secret. Mia always believed that Lor was the pretty one...the special one...the untouched one...until she wasn't anymore. When I say hard to read? I mean it...there were so many unpleasant things that happened to Lor. Her baby, her husband, her friends, her travels in India, her drug addiction...every single one of these issues was not pretty yet I never once wanted to stop reading this book. It was sort of a quest on my part to understand both Mia and Lor. Their story was a full and completed circle. When this book ended...I was both content and satisfied.What I loved about this book...The writing is beautiful...mesmerizing...magnetic.What I did not love about this book...I did not like the pictures in my head. I didn't like thinking about the things that Lorrie Ann saw while traveling with Arman through India. The drugs, the alchohol...none of it was appealing but such an integral part of the story.Final thoughts...I know that I haven't written much about what actually happened in this book. It's the kind of book that you choose to read and continue to read because of these characters. Their families, their lives were entwined and they seemed to always stay connected. Even when Mia was living in Istanbul and learns that Lorrie Ann is there...shoeless, hungry, drug addicted...it just seems normal that they connect again. I am not sure that they even liked each other at varying parts of their lives but they still sought each other...not always with fondness. But that was what they did.

Breezy summer beach reading it ain't. The book is gripping and challenging (in the best possible way.) I like books that echo in my head for days after I've finished reading them and The Girls from Corona del Mar is just that type of read. Though I have a hard time categorizing this novel - I have an easy time recommending it. Pretty amazing.

The Girls from Corona del Mar: Good Women's Fiction for the Summer By Tina Says I finished The Girls from Corona Del Mar a few days ago, and am still processing what to say about this book. Mia and Lorrie Ann are characters I can't get out of my head.There were some parts I really liked, and others that I just was not sold on.Mia has always idolized her childhood friend, Lorrie Ann. Although the girls grew up in Corona del Mar, there is little of the story that takes place there. Instead, the story focuses mostly on Lorrie Ann and Mia's perception of Lorrie Ann's perfect life.When Mia was with Lorrie Ann she felt special, and everything centered around her friend. As an adult, Mia is beginning to see that part of the bad luck that seems to find Lorrie Ann at every turn is a result of some poor decisions and unfortunate events that Lorrie Ann lived through. All of these happened without Mia's knowledge, leaving her to ponder how much she really knew her best friend.The two women spend virtually no time together in their adult years, yet when troubles occur, Lorrie Ann always seem to find her way back to Mia.The portions about Mia and Lorrie intrigued me, as did their pasts. Yet, other sections, such as Lorrie's drug use, were less interesting. I longed for these girls to be true friends to each other - to be those tanned girls with golden hair growing up in Corona del Mar.Life is hard for Mia and Lorrie Ann, and although the ending is not happy, it seems realistic for the lives they have led. While this wasn't a novel I could hardly put down, it is one I haven't stopped thinking about.
