About the Author Flora Joy graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree and began teaching at age 18. She holds the record for being Eastern Tennessee State University's youngest graduate. She has made numerous presentations with her Fabric Arts and quilting productions. Her passion is not only making art quilts, but in the discovery of unique quilting concepts and techniques. She would definitely rather sew than to eat or sleep-and that's saying a lot!FLORA JOY is Professor Emeritus in the Storytelling Division of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at East Tennessee State University. She has been described as a "founder" in the world of storytelling. She received her Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees all in the field of communication and education. She began teaching elementary reading/language arts in Knox County, Tennessee, in the early l960s.

I saw the Sleep Pray Scream quilt at the NW Quilting Expo in June. I had to know the technique. The book is well written and explains the procedure step by step. Good list of supplies used, great photos. That being said, I have no desire at this time to print photos on fabric, etc. I think if that's your interest and you want to make a completely different type of quilt, this would interest you.

This is one quilt that changes from one view to another as you walk by it. A great project to impress your friends.Basically, the book Trispective contains the following:*A summary of the steps needed to make a 3-N-1 quilt*How to select and tweak your three needed photos*How to prepare your chosen photos*How to get your prepared photos printed onto fabric*How to stitch it all together*How to prepare optional borders and frames*How to do the final quilt assemblyThe book is filled with dozens and dozens of color illustrations that describe the step-by-step process for making this kind of quilt. At the beginning of the book it says that the process isn’t speedy but that it is very doable and extremely rewarding. Often times rewarding experiences do take a bit more time and aren't super easy to accomplish but they leave you feeling great when you are finished.I have made one of these quilts, and the process is very sensible. If you don’t have a computer to prepare the images, look around for a high school student or a family member who is tech-savvy and willing to make this file for you in exchange for a pizza or a home-cooked meal. The fabric printing could be done on a home printer but for it to look professional, you can easily email your design to a company that does this for you. That process is carefully explained in the book. In today’s world it is very convenient to email such a file without leaving your home or having to snail-mail anything and the beautiful fabric arrives at your house in your mailbox a few days later.This is a quilt that anyone should try who wants an interesting fabric project that is different and stunning. I decided to make one of these quilts using three of my family members and it turned out cute. This process is explained in an easy-to-understand manner, and I hope to make several more of these quilts in the future.

Flora's finished products are amazing! I particularly liked how she accomplished the elaborate simulated ornate frames surrounding her creations. Impressive results!
