About the Author Edward Thatcher was an instructor of Decorative Metal Working at Teachers College, Columbia University, from 1904 to 1919. In addition to his book "Making Tin Can Toys," Thatcher also wrote articles on metal working for Popular Science magazine and was a member of the Byrdcliffe Art Colony in Woodstock, NY. Examples of his metal work were included in the New York Historical Society's Byrdcliffe exhibition in 2005.
