The author touches on only a couple of topics, but they are the most applicable to chicken care. This is more of a guide, that explains what's important and why. He gets you pointed in the right direction, so you may further educate yourself and learn what you need. I also enjoyed some of the facts he put in that may or may not pertain to you and your operation, but are nonetheless nice to know, such as the grading systems commercial eggs are based on, how weight is determined for grading, etc.. Really informative, quick lesson in raising chickens, glad I purchased.

A little light on content but a decent overview By MacGyverJr It might be a good read if you are just curious about raising chickens and want to know what the basic necessities are for keeping and raising birds. Not a lot of content other than just a cursory overview of the process. Very little info on selling birds or eggs.There are much more in depth books on the subject with very concrete information about sizing coops, sourcing new birds, raising egg layers vs. meat birds.
