I'm giving this is three stars not because it's bad but because it terribly complicated By ZombieWrangler I'm giving this is three stars not because it's bad but because it terribly complicated. I have been making paper cranes, frogs, seagulls, and many many paper airplane models for years. I could not get through the very first butterfly in the book was only 26 steps and the more complicated ones have over 50 steps. Now two hours in and 1/3 of the way through ruining the stack of paper I still don't have a single butterfly and I have enlisted the support of everyone in my houseThe paper is beautiful and the instructions are relatively clear but unless you're a master at folder with little tiny Japanese fingers these bugs just aren't for the uncommitted. If you are just interested in a book with some pretty pictures and history of butterflies this is a great choice

This book like the other reviewers mentioned is way complicated. It would have been helpful, if this book came with a DVD of videos to help complete each of the project because after a lot of reading through the steps and repeating, I could not make a single butterfly (I tried to do the monarch buttterfly). I finally ended up watching a YouTube video and made one in 10 minutes. The pictures and the instructions are not clear enough for a beginner.I am still giving it three stars because the book comes with beautiful printed origami paper and if you could follow and make sense of the instructions, you could make some really pretty butterflies.

Extreme butterflies By James Napier [[VIDEOID:a5d8c5fdcad0e888a8f023aa2ff6144e]] They went from complex to extremely complex and I had to restart every new pattern several times. Pay attention to the pattern coloration several steps ahead to make sure you didn't fold this step wrong. I'd like to create a video of each. I spent about 2 hours on the first of each pattern but the second coloration in same pattern was done within a half hour. The whole set plus mounting for a mobile took well over 40 hours. After over 10 years of folding and a personal collection of over 500 pieces completed, I have to say this is definitely not for the beginner but makes for the most beautiful collection. note: dollar butterfly in image was me just goofing around, not found in his book. Wish I could contact Roman to tell him Thanks!
