About the Author Andrew G. Nelson was born and raised in the Richmond Hill section of New York City and graduated from the State University of New York. In 2005 he retired as a sergeant from the NYPD after twenty years of service. He has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, something that he draws from in his writing. When he is not reading or writing he can be found engaging in his other passion, collecting and researching police and WWII military memorabilia. He and his wife Nancy have four children and they currently reside in central Illinois with their Irish Wolfhound. He is the author of several fiction novel series' featuring James Maguire (Perfect Pawn, Queen's Gambit, & Bishop's Gate) and Alex Taylor (Small Town Secrets). He also just completed his first non-fiction work: Uncommon Valor - Insignia of the NYPD Emergency Service Unit.

Well written and informative, it is very helpful to patch or coin collectors and anyone interested in police history. Features numerous photos as well as a bit of history of the NYPD Emergency Service Unit. Recommended.

Andrew shares the history of the ESU patches along with colorful scans of patches and images of them on uniforms. I am glad I ordered the hard copy vs the Kindle download. A must for any collector!
