Outstanding contribution By John Morris Dixon Beautifully conceived and executed -- choice of subjects, viewpoint, text, illustrations, layouts.Thoughtful, concise texts explaining how 21 exemplary projects conceived and carried out -- by some of the most accomplished landscape architects, worldwide.Should be of interest to people with a wide range of backgrounds -- from lay enthusiasts to practitioners and academics.John Morris Dixon, Old Greenwich, CTThe book definitely enriches my knowledge of landscape architecture, which is oddly patchy.I had an intense exposure to old Japanese gardens (courtesy of 1950s U.S. Army posting in the Far East), journalistic coverage of modern work as magazine editor (mainly works of Friedberg, Zion & Breen, Halprin, Rolland...), and ritual visits to some famed landscapes of Europe.This should help balance my perspective on the subject.

By Jonni Packer The Inspired Landscape is a must-read for landscape designers, landscape architects, architects and for all students of design. Designers in every field should profit from an understanding of the wide-ranging inspirations and landscape projects featured in this book. With a generous number of sketches, drawings and beautiful photographs, the book is written in a very approachable manner. Reading about the creative process of these 21 world-renowned landscape architects validated for me that design inspiration can come from a great many sources, sometimes quite unexpected and often surprisingly simple.

By susan p loomis This book gives a rare glimpse of how some of the most sucessful landscape architects have interpreted their vision of nature. I found it truly fascinating. One does not have to be an architect to appreciate this work. The writing is clear and is combined with high quality photography. This work is a treasure and has become a staple in my home library. Highly recommended!
