About the Author Sally Kilpatrick lives on the outskirts of Cape Town in South Africa. She is a qualified dog trainer and behaviourist who runs her own dog school for the last 3 years. She studied dog training through a course in the United Kingdom through COAPE. The course allowed her to do what she loves, and that is to learn as much as she could about dog training! She has also trained many of her own dogs since.

Great dog training program By Nikolay This is a detailed 4-week dog training program with a bunch of strategies and tips, examples of problems and ways to solve them, as well as insights into further advanced training. The book is highly practical and helpful, focusing on perfect execution and memorizing of each command by a dog.

It has a lot of positive steps to take in training your dog.Reward the behaviors you want & ignore the ones you don't like. Easier said than done with a puppy that nips & runs.Positive reinforcement is best. Avoid inconsistency. Spend time with your dog. Exercise & play both help you bond.Dogs must be corrected WHILE the dog is engaging in the undesirable behavior. It is ineffective done after it has happened.Confidence & consistency are both necessary in interacting with your dog. Keep positive & motivating.Don't work with you animal when you're in a bad mood. They sense it.A crate can provide comfort, security & safety for a dog. She was twelve months old when we got her from Humane Society. She is very smart and learned fast sit and down. She was and is house trained, so no problem there. But... as cur black mount mix, she's hunting and herding dog first and foremost. Because we have problem with getting her attention and recalling her I will begin training her immediately.Reason I really like that particular book is instructions are clearly described and based on teaching dogs with love so they know that whatever we doing with them is not harmful. They learn because we love our best friend, not because they are fearful.Obviously the author knows her dogs and I am positive that when I'll apply her methods of training, Luna will have easier time adjusting to urban life with us.
