There is a lot to keep in mind when deciding to open a Koi shop, so much more to it than you see from the outside, looking in. Servaas and Ronnie really know the business, inside and out. I was in (and out) of the hobby myself for a number of years, and like many, tried my hand at "going commercial." It was a lot of fun, but I soon learned the truth behind the saying, "It's easy to make a small fortune selling Koi, just start with a large fortune." That isn't to say you can't make money with Koi, but there's more too it than at least I thought. This book would have made some of the pit falls more obvious, and also shown me some parts of the market that I wasn't aware of.What you must keep in mind that some of the information in the booklet is regional, and you'll have to take into consideration what might be different in YOUR local. The local laws and regulations will almost certainly differ, but those are generally easy to find out about. The basic "industry standard" procedures and practices will differ somewhat, but the info given in the booklet is very sound and gives you a standard to shoot for. The pages dealing with the health and welfare of the Koi are some of the best I've read anywhere. But the medications will often be something you'll have to look up and find out what it is called in your area, as well as whatever legal issues may be involved with it. What is commonly used in one part of the world may well be banned in another part. But doing your homework, you'll find what the equivalent treatment in your location is.But give yourself a good head start, by using "The Koi Shop" and a guide. Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into, do your market research, decide just how much "into" the business you think you can handle, and make a detailed business plan. If it still looks go to you, then give it a go!I have to say that I've known Servaas de Kock and Ronnie Watt, mostly via the Internet, for quite a few years. And in those years, I've come to respect them both. They've been a fount of information to me, and to many others as well. I still treasure my copy of "Living Jewels - Koi Keeping in South Africa." Their knowledge of Koi appreciation is well demonstrated in that book, and well as what I consider the best section on the Ethics of Koi Breeding. A subject many don't seem to want to approach.In short, (too late now, I suppose,) You think you might want to get into the business? Get the book. Very well made book, easy to read patterns with many gorgeous pictures By Craig Jess This book is a must have if you are looking to make cute Parent and Baby Animal Sets. I am always looking for new patterns of cutie amigurumi creature, I fell in love with the T-Rex set and am pleased with the wide range of animals. Each pattern was easy to follow and quick to work up. There are many colorful pictures to each pattern. There is a section that explains basic stitches for those that may need help.The book is well made with a thick cover, strong binding yet easy to flip through. As always very pleased with my Amigurumi Pattern Book, I look forward to the next one!

I'm unimpressed. I really wanted to like these, and the idea is good. My kids LOVE when I crochet them little animals. But I feel like I can look at her ideas and design something better, and I'm not an expert by any means.

Easy to print By Florida Kayaker This is a review for Flowers: A Full Color Introduction To The World Of Coloring For Relaxation (Adult Coloring Books Book 1.)This kindle book has 20 different flower drawings to color. As you look through the kindle book the drawings look small but the author did have the aforethought to mention in her introduction that the kindle version drawings would look that way. Each drawing is accompanied by an already colored drawing in case you need inspiration in choosing colors.At the end of the book there is a link to download and print each drawing. Once printed the drawings are full size and beautiful. The one I printed took up a full page of a basic piece of copy paper. The drawings are very detailed and the lines are the perfect thickness for me.I prefer ebooks for coloring because you can choose you own quality of paper or even use colored paper if you want. There are never issues with the spine of the booking being the way and of course no doubled sided problems.Overall, a nice coloring book for the people that love to color flowers.

This book has colored photos of the designs that can be downloaded at the end of the book for free! I really like that I can go through it to get inspiration and color combo ideas for not only the print outs but for other coloring pages too. Sometimes when I go to color a page I get kinda stuck on what color to choose. I know that sounds silly but it happens. So that is why I like to check these pictures out frequently.At the very end of the book there is a link to click and it took me to the page to download all the uncolored pages. Once I easily downloaded it to my computer I choose which pages to print and I simply printed them out. I could have printed out the entire book and stapled it together or bind it. I think that is what I am going to do for book 2.I do really like this and I had no issues with downloading or printing out the pages.

However, when I click where it says to download, it goes to a completely different page. My suggestion would be to provide a webpage that we can access from our computer. I saved book itself on my kindle but cannot save PDF files. Sadly, I will be deleting this book.

About the Author Dawn D. Boyer, Ph.D. has been drawing since she was five years old, and would color her father’s office stationery with crayons to create colored paper for art projects. She received her first acrylic paint set in 1973 (a $25.00 kit was a lot of money back then!) and promptly drove her art teacher crazy finishing class projects in hours versus days. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University's, Bachelor of Art Program, and then re-engaged later at Radford University, earning her BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration. She returned to Virginia Commonwealth University to earn her Masters Degree in Adult Education, and then attended Old Dominion University for her Doctorate of Philosophy in Education (STEMPS/OTS/T&D/HR). Over the years she has developed a distinctive style for her pen and ink illustrations of old barns and houses, as well as Colonial Williamsburg architectural portraiture. She is the author of 80+ books on the topics of business, career search practices, mandala books for hypnotherapy and meditation, coloring books for adults, women and gender studies, and quotes for self-improvement (“2,000+” & “3,000+” series), as well as genealogy and family lineage. She assists other authors publish their manuscripts in the print-on-demand market and also has a series of books entitled: Interview with An Artist. The interview books compile artists’ interviews with photos of the artist’s work to assist the artists in marketing and branding their work to an international marketplace. However that doesn't make up for the poor quality of the paper. The designs are printed on one side of the paper which is point in its favor and it is easy to print copies onto my own cardstock. That said the cost of the book is much to high when I add to it the expense of buying my own paper and ink.

The beginning and end of the book is filled with ads which is a little strange. I had seen some preview pictures that Dawn (the artist) had made available on a facebook coloring group. I loved those so when I saw the book available I had to get it! I absolutely love about 2/3 of the pictures but the other 1/3 were a little strange to me with too many shadows and weird detailings. It is still worth it to get it just for the 2/3 of the book that I like. They are single sided and the paper quality is basic like usual. Love her work I just wish she would have gotten rid of some of the dark shadows in some of the pictures! And if she makes any more books I hope she gets rid of the ads!

A Happy Colorist book review By Amazon Customer A Happy Colorist book review.A few days a dear friend sent me a copy of Big Kids Coloring Book, Fairy Houses and Doors volume 1 and 2 by Dawn D. Boyer, PH.D. I kept the copy of the book for wet medium and gave the dry medium book to my 9 yr. Old grand-daughter. And I must say we are enjoying them both immensely. Dawn's detail and her portrayal of her imagination in her drawings is amazing, it is so hard for either of us to decide which picture to work on next. They are all awesome and truly fun to color. The only limits to doing these books, is our lack of imagination, as the coloring books, have too many, wonderful possibilities. Would I buy more of Dawn's coloring books? In a nan o-second. They all equal, fun, and relaxation all rolled into one, the only thing I can find wrong with them, is a big fat nothing..* smile*, and I am truly going to try and collect all her coloring books. Rate 5 stars

This applies even if you are adopting a housetrained dog, but is especially true if you are getting a puppy. A copy should be in every dog household By Bridget Fabulous book - EVERYONE should read this manual; especially before you get a dog. Most people do not do the research before getting a dog - this can be a catastrophe for both owner and dog. This manual outlines the proper, smart and safe steps that anyone should follow when looking to introduce a new animal into their life - albeit dog specific; common sense and prior proper planning are essential to "owning" any animal.This book is a staple, as far as I'm concerned, and a copy should be in the home of any dog lover/animal lover.I have done animal rescue all of my life; dog, cat, equine, bird - you name it. The perfect book for a novice dog parent By NCPinAtl As the new human to a wonderful mutt, adopted at the Atlanta Humane Society, I didn't know where to start to learn about the care and feeding of Lola Grace. I was at a loss. Then I remembered Adopt-a-Pet.com had published The Total Dog Manual. I ordered it straight away.Boy am I glad I did.I read the book from nose to tail (beginning to end) the first night I got it. The book is organized into sections from choosing a dog to caring for one to training it. I woke up the next day and reviewed some of the most relevant sections. It will be my go-to guide for questions as I have them.

It teaches you the basic stitches, if you are a beginner, along with how to read patterns and change colors, before teaching you how to do the various different kinds of ripple afghan styles available. I crochet and I like to learn all aspects of it, because I want to create great gifts for family members, so I was very interested in this book. I especially like at the end where they have a chart to tell you how big you need to make your afghan for different bed sizes. That's very useful. There's also great color photos.

Brant I had no idea that there were so many variations of Afghans until I read this book. It is packed from beginning to end with examples of how to get started and the different choices you will need to make in order to master this amazing skill. Handmade gifts are so much more valuable than stuff bought in the store and this book has all of the info you need to get started with spectacular designs!

Ward As a philatelist and writer (A.J's Encyclopedia of Stamps and Philatelic Links - on the 'net) I loved this ca. 1940's history of philately and stamp dealers at the end of the 'Golden Age' of stamp collecting and stamp dealing.

The OCR of the original scanned document is awful and Amazon should never allow anything with such poor manufacturing quality to be issued. But ignoring the QC issue, this book is a worthwhile historical perspective on the classical view of the hobby. A serious philatelist would be well advised to read this book. Readers interested in any aspect of the hobby will enjoy it.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. A Stunning Book By lostdesigner This is truly a beautiful book on interior design. It is very well written, and the photos are stunning. The rooms pictured are gorgeous, and of course timeless. If you like the look of beautiful antiques, mixed with contemporary art, you will really enjoy this book. The rooms pictured are warm and inviting (by example, clay potted plants sitting on well polished antique tables next to Imari porcelain) and reflect the owners' passions for collecting. These are layered rooms at their finest, and they do not look "staged" as many designers are prone to do today!

One cool aspect of it is that Bunny Williams and gang have influenced do many other designers and decorators and you get a real sense of the varied work of the 'graduates' of the 'House of Hadley' ... I also enjoy looking at design books to get new ideas. This book would make a nice gift (maybe more for city home dwellers, or high level design fans). Beautiful book!

Miller I'm not a designer, but I am passionate about the topic. If you also love decorating, and are very curious about how your favorite designers and tastemakers think, this is a marvelous book. The book is organized by alumni from the firm, and there are many wonderful, sensitively written remembrances in this book which reveal the ideas and character of both Parish and Hadley. A very good book about the inner workings of design; a very "human" look at the people, process, and influences. Be advised: this book is not a "how-to" book for the amateur. It's a series of personal histories of coming into the design business, being mentored by greats (and sometimes abused by them!), and reflecting on the gifts of those collaborations.

We met Shelly, her husband Miami, their son Ryan, and their incomparable dog Goose as they were preparing their recently purchased sailboat Yume to resume the sailing life, all the while continuing their work for Paws4People/Paws4Vets. Bob Drury's heartfelt narrative irresistibly draws the reader into a wonderful organization, the remarkable people who brought it to life, and the many other memorable humans and dogs that comprise the Paws4People family. As the "mother" of a registered Therapy Dog Midas, a Golden Retriever like many of the dogs you'll meet in the pages of the book, I know firsthand the special magic between a dog and a human. It tells not only of their daily struggles with life but how these service dogs have changed their lives so they can live more normal lives and start living within society again instead of being ostracized, committing suicide, or continuing to live a dysfunctional life. I know because I am one of these clients and my life has been forever changed.

The fight is on!!If you’re an adult with the mind of a Japanese teenager, middle child issues and obsessive compulsive disorder, read Kondo’s book. Also get yourself to a shrink!If however you’re a fully formed adult with grown up sensibilities; family, responsibilities, hobbies etc, who needs help in this area as they have too much stuff and is willing to do everything necessary to reinvent from the ground up, this is the book for you.

By the time I read half the book I was wore out and I hadn't organized anything. I found a typo early in the introduction and found it discerning that another author was badmouthed by this author in the introduction. Huh? How is badmouthing someone else an introduction to her ideas?If your method for being organized is complicated and contains lists miles long, it probably "ain't gonna work." And who can get organized in seven days? That too "ain't gonna work" because it takes 25 to 30 days to make a habit, a true habit. You're gonna burn out long before seven days is up because you're overwhelmed and overworked, not to mention, who has enough time to organize your entire life in seven days?You can organize all you want, but if you don't ingrain some organizational habits into your life, it's gonna last. I highly suggest you look at FlyLady.com. She tells you to start small, to start with one habit, which will make you feel good and want to continue, to add a new habit, and to spend fifteen minutes here and there. Her method WORKS. I know, I've tried it, I quit, then I went back because I found out she was RIGHT, It's so subtle, you don't realize how well it's working until you get up one morning and go "Wow . . . this is MY house . . ." That, or realize, you don't have three thousand things to do today, just this, this, and this, and then you can go play.FlyLady also handles the why of why we're not organized, confronts "stinkin' thinkin'" head on, perfectionism, clutter, and tells you, "you're not behind, you just need to jump in where you are". She helps you create habits that will stick with you a life time and faster than one would think, you will find that your house is gradually becoming organized in 15 minute projects. Each little progression puts a smile on your face. She also promotes pampering yourself, promotes feeling good about yourself, and she changes attitudes and lives. If you have a mess, you didn't make it in seven days, and seven days isn't going to cure it, or fix it, seven days isn't going to make you into an organized person. Seven days of this book's advice is going to cause you to crash and burn and you'll be right back where you started.

I’d been looking for something like this for a long time and found Bethany Joyson’s approach is very natural and relatable.She set things out clearly and intuitively. I knew where to start, what to look for and what to aim for.The concept of going after my cognitive truth has been really big for me. And not just in my wanting to organize my stuff and day but in many other areas where it naturally started to apply itself which was amazing to me.Even after reading it twice and applying a lot of it already, I still feel I have many months to go before I can start to fully appreciate and enjoy the concepts she’s explained.I can’t recommend this book enough if you need help as I did.
