About the Author Basil Papanastassiou is a therapist and self-taught quilter. He designs and makes quilts, publishes quilt patterns and books, presents his quilts at various quilt guilds, and teaches quilting. He has published two quilt books, "Ten Modern Quilts" and "Seven Simple Sensational Modern Quilts". His stint working part-time at a quilt store gave him an invaluable knowledge of fabric, design, and the needs of quilters for new, innovative, and easy to sew quilt patterns (as well as giving him first crack at all the new fabric that came into the store). He is currently teaching the patterns from his book "Ten Modern Quilts" and designing new quilt patterns. One of his philosophies is “so much fabric, so little time”… as is “when you see the fabric and you love it, buy it, because in many cases when you go back for it, it’s gone”. He lives with his husband Burt in South Florida.
